Valentine’s Day Flower Buying Guide

Valentine's Day Flower Buying Guide

Valentine’s Day Flower Buying Guide

I must admit, I am not the normal flower buying type of guy.  For Valentine’s Day we normally go for a nice dinner and a movie at home to keep Valentine’s Day expenses low and have more alone time together.  Because I am not that into giving flowers, when I ran across this best flowers to buy for Valentine’s Day guide I just had to share.  It demystifies the art of buying flowers for those of us that are flower illiterate!

Valentine’s Day Succulents

After reviewing the guide an doing a little bit of calculations in my head, I think I may have to get my hands on some succulents.  They come in many different shapes, colors, and sizes.  I have never even heard of these before, but they do seem very pretty if you can find the right one.  In a way they aren’t exactly flowers, they are more like a colorful leafy plant.  BUT, $5 for several years of enjoyment?!?  Where do I sign up 🙂

Valentine’s Day Irises

On the flip side of all things Valentine flower related, I will have to make a mental note to skip the purple irises or probably any color or irises for that matter.  They do seem very pretty, but they are SOOO expensive and they do not last that long at all.  I was thinking it was up to $100 for a bouquet, but after closer reading I see that it is up to $100 PER STEM.  That means of bouquet of these things could be $500+.  Seriously???  As you will see in the infographic below, they also do not last all that long.  For me, there is nothing more disappointing than paying a lot for flowers and then having them wilt and die after just a couple of days.

Valentine’s Day Lilies

It does seem like a great way to go if you are buying flowers is with lilies.  They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors and are great to look at.  They are pretty inexpensive and last a pretty long time in terms of flowers.  So, they end up being a pretty good bang for your buck.  I guess there’s a reason these are often included in those grocery store bouquets that you would pickup from the grocery store for ~$7.
