That’s a great idea! I am looking to get into something that is more expensive with the same return. So instead of turning $2 into $20, if I can get bikes to go $10 in $100 that would be awesome. Are there any types of bikes in particular that seem to work well? Kid’s bikes, adult bikes, etc?

-Thanks!

We go to garage sales in the area and then flip stuff on Craigslist for a bit of extra cash. Bikes are my specialty. I can get bikes for $10-$20 and flip them for $80-$100 with a bit of work. It’s not a ton of money but it’s a bit of extra cash for spending. Cheers, Thomas.

The best tip I have is wait for the neighborhood yard sales in sections of town that are upper-middle class. They usually have awesome stuff and they are trying to get rid of it quickly, so items are priced to move.

Also, if you’ve got the inclination, check out GIMP. This is a free program that’s just about as powerful as Photoshop. You can find free tutorials and be semi-pro in just a couple of hours.

I tend to like yard sales the best because you’re in and then out. Flea markets are like information overload for me 🙂

We recently had a yard sale and it netted us over $400, not bad for a few hours work. The yard sales I go to tend to have junky stuff but once and a while there is a diamond in the rough. It is fun to be on the hunt for a treasure though, sort of like that show ‘Storage Wars’

I love yard sales, flea markets, and thrift stores. If you have the patience to do a little digging, there’s good stuff to be found for a steal. You got some amazing deals!

I must admit that my yard sale experiences are pretty localized. Maybe it is just an american thing that is predicated on most peoples tendency to over-consume on stuff until the house is overflowing with junk. Do they have a craigslist active over there?

Yeah – sometimes if you are not careful you end up buying stuff you don’t really need. I guess the good news is it helps our family get out some of our “consumer/spending” type energy at a real low price 🙂

We don’t really have yard sales over here in the UK. We have car boot sales but when I have the chance to go to one, I just can’t seem to find many bargains.
