At first, I hated it, but I have come to see the power of it. I’ve had a handful of people reach out to me with job opportunities recently simply because I kept in contact with them and they knew I was looking for work.

The keys are to stay in front of people and to be patient. In one case, I was just friends with the person and 3 years later, a job opportunity came about. You just never know when the networking might pay off.
