Buying a Watch Does NOT Need to Be Expensive

Buying a Watch Does NOT Need to Be Expensive

Buying a Watch Does NOT Need to Be Expensive

I have to admit a dirty little secret to you guys – I have a secret love for wrist watches.  Yes it’s true, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.  The only problem with having a love for wrist watches is that you can end up spending a king’s ransom on wrist watches if you are not careful!  Luckily, I found an easy alternative to get really cool looking watches without spending a fortune.  Read on to find out how you can keep your costs low and still have some great looking watches in your collection!

Yes Advertising Still Does Work – Even on Me

If you are a normal follower of this blog, then you know that I generally despise advertising.  We got rid of cable years ago to save money.  One awesome side-benefit of ditching cable is that our brains are non inundated with advertising.  Well, the clever marketers still got to me – this time through an old-fashioned magazine.  I was reading one a couple of months back and saw this neat ad for the Timex Weekender.  It was a pretty snazzy looking watch from the magazine pictures, so I checked it out online.

It’s All About the Swappable Straps

The major selling point of the Timex Weekender is that it is made for using swappable straps.  I guess I had been living under some kind of rock, because I didn’t really realize that swappable watch straps were such a big thing. Anyhow, when this swappable straps concept came to light, I felt like I had a mini-money-saving revelation!  All of the sudden my money saving brain kicked into high gear.  With an investment in the watch face (about $30), I could essentially get a whole new looking watch for five or six buck.  Just the cost of a new nylon strap – that’s it!

Where to Get Swappable Straps

There are a ton of Timex Weekender swappable strap websites out there, but the one I ended up using based on a Reddit FrugalMaleFashion sub-reddit recommendation was www.CheapestNatoStraps.com.  They were recommended because of their good shipping, prompt customer service, and quality straps that resist fraying.

We were able to get a special deal on a pack of six straps for $24 or about $4 per strap!  It is going to be hard to beat that!  They also offer free shipping on orders over $25.  I found that when comparing CheapestNatoStraps to Amazon, the CheapestNatoStraps were actually less expensive by over 30%.  I think the only reason to go with Amazon for straps would be if you wanted the quicker shipping (the CheapestNatoStraps come from Sweeden).

Timex Weekender Review at 3 Months

I have had my Timex Weekender watch and straps for about 3 months now, and I am totally in love.  I wear this watch nearly every day of the week – I’m actually wearing it right now as I write this post :-).  I just think this Timex Weekender watch is the neatest thing since sliced bread.  I can swap out the straps in less than 30 seconds, and I can easily find a strap that will coordinate with whatever outfit I am wearing for the day.

Buying a Watch Does NOT Need to Be Expensive – Final Thoughts

I would definitely recommend this Timex Weekender watch and CheapestNatoStraps if you are looking for a cool wrist watch that won’t break the bank.  The Timex Weekender is living proof that buying a watch does NOT need to be expensive!  You can have a great “new looking” wrist watch each time you buy a new strap for less than a cup of some fancy Starbucks coffee!
