My New Book: Stock Market Investing for Newbies is Finally Finished!!!

07/08/2014 by Derek Chamberlain

Stock Market Investing For Newbies

Stock Market Investing For Newbies

I cannot believe I am able to say this, but my new book: Stock Market Investing for Newbies is finally finished!!!  I found out first-hand that writing a book is a long and grueling process, but I’m glad I stuck with it all the way to the end.

Why Did I Write Stock Market Investing for Newbies?

I decided to write an investing book for newbies for five main reasons:

  1. Too Complicated – Many of the stock market investing books I surveyed were 300 – 400 pages.  That’s a bit of a daunting read for anyone interested in getting started with stock market investing.
  2. Too Basic – Several Ebooks available were also way too short.  25 pages for $1.99?  Are you kidding me?
  3. Poor Explanations – I’m not the most experienced stock market investor, but I think I have a good ability to explain complex topics in simple language.  This seems to be lacking in many stock market investing books.
  4. Poor Accessibility – Plenty of books have great information, but they jump around too much.  I tried to write Stock Market Investing for Newbies using a very organized approach.  This should also aid learning as there is minimal jumping around.
  5. Prevent Stunted Growth – I wrote this book to prevent others like me from repeating my investing mistakes.  From not investing early enough to day trading, I’ve made a ton of bad investing decisions.  I think this book will help many get started on the best investing path to build their wealth and side-step many common investing pitfalls.

Stock Market Investing for Newbies – Fun Facts

Here are a couple of fun facts about my Stock Market Investing for Newbies book:

  • 200 hours of work over 5.5 total months – I started the book in mid-January and have just now finished it in early July.
  • 160 pages – The size of the page layout is 9″ x 6″.  I am pretty impressed that it ended up being this long.  I think the length is perfect for a newbie stock market investing guide – not too short or too long.
  • 34,373 words – This is the equivalent of about 70 blog posts!  Wow!!
  • 847 KB – This seems to be a pretty standard size as far as financial Ebooks go…
  • 48 figures – Tons of charts, graphs, and tables for your learning pleasure!
  • 85 glossary terms – The glossary took a very long time to compile, but it should be useful for newbies investors.

Stock Market Investing for Newbies – Sneak Peak

I feel that Stock Market Investing for Newbies is very a thorough book for the stock market investing newbie.  It covers many important topics that other investing books leave out.  I feel that I’m able to keep the material light and easy to understand so that the reader doesn’t get bogged down.  You can see from the table of contents below that I cover quite a bit with this book:

Hey Derek, congratulations! I think you really hit the nail on the head here. I studied with the Johnson Lipman school of finance, and have had my fair share of experience in the market. In my studies, I would research different books to read to help me understand more of what I was doing. I’ve noticed so many resources that are either crazy long or crazy short. I’m glad to see that someone has finally found a balance.

      Josh,

Thanks for you kind words 🙂 It is nice to know that someone else noticed the same thing as me. I hope the book sells well. So far, it is off to a pretty good start.

Congrats on publishing the book. I have this as one of my goals (to write a book) and getting started seems to be the hardest part. This should inspire me to get the ball rolling.

Best wishes with the launch and sales.

      R2R,

It really is not bad once you get started. Just be prepared to spend almost as much time editing and formatting as you did actually writing material!

Derek….ordering the book because you wrote it….you did it! I have no doubt it is excellent. I personally decided as a very young pastor NOT to invest in the market…I knew it would consume me…I would be addicted to it…it was a weakness on my part and I am poorer for it…..so the only funds I have for retirement are in my pension plan…..

      Son,

I’m the same way – I went through a pretty bad period of investing failure. After much research and slow progress, I was able to learn the “right” way to invest my money without taking on more risk than I was willing to stomach.

Congratulations on your book. I find that one of the hardest things about investing is knowing when to sell.I have used the market extensively. So far it has been good to me. Have never done day trading but have an interest. Does your book
go into much detail about this? When I see you again I would love to discuss this with you.

      Milford,

The advice I give is to stay as far away from day trading as possible unless you are willing to devote your entire life to it. There is no such thing as casual day trading. 95% of folks that attempt day trading will lose money in the long run. It is high risk, and high reward. Unless you are willing to master it, best to leave it to the experts and enjoy your life 🙂
